Land Acknowledgement

East Side Art Institute recognizes that many of us are living and working on lands first occupied by Indigenous peoples, and the ESAI campus was originally Indigenous territory. We are uninvited settlers in the homeland of the first inhabitants of the area: the Arapaho, Ute, Cheyenne, and the Sioux Očhéthi Šakówiŋ. There is much work to be done by ourselves and other uninvited people to address and amend the social injustices that mark our country’s history.

East Side Art Institute acknowledges that 48 contemporary tribal nations are historically tied to the lands that make up the state of Colorado. We respectfully acknowledge and honor all Indigenous communities – past, present, and future.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement
We value diversity and welcome people of all ages, religions, races, gender identities, sexual/affectional orientations, ethnicities, and abilities.

We strive to create an equitable learning and working environment in concert with individuals who consistently demonstrate commitment to equity and inclusion. We value the diverse identity and perspectives of our students and staff and recognize that to achieve a just and equitable society, diversity must go beyond simple representation. It requires self-reflection and dialogue and a commitment to walk our talk. We strive to provide a culture of belonging for all community members to achieve personal and professional success. Our day to day intention is to meet each other with kindness, support and appreciation in whatever we do.

At East Side Art Institute we welcome and promote community inclusion with individuals of various ages, backgrounds, talents, abilities, and special needs. We believe in providing opportunities for all individuals to enjoy a creative life and we make accommodations that allow each person to find their own creative expression through engaging with art. Learning together and sharing ourselves with one another makes all of us better individuals. We believe that every person has something special to offer to the world and East Side Art Institute is committed to supporting each person’s unique gifts.
